So, you’ve embraced the Medifast program and reached your goal. Congratulations! That’s no mean feat! So what now? This article will give you some advice on what you should be doing once you have reached your target weight. It will discuss what you should be eating and what exercise you can do to keep the weight loss off.
Medifast Program – What to Eat Now?
Your goal has been reached by following the Medifast program and you are about to start eating ‘normal’ food again. This will either make or break your long term weight loss goals. If you go back to eating as you used to, obviously you’ll quickly regain all those lost pounds and destroy months of hard work. What you need to do is move onto the next which is the “transition phase” .
In the transition phase are aiming to put what you learnt while on the program into practice. This is where you gradually phase everyday foods back into your regular diet. You aren’t left to your own devices here so there’s no need to worry – the Medifast team will provide you with a time plan and instructions. What you want to do is slowly replace one of the substitutes with a healthy alternative – you are pretty much doing what the Medifast program did at the start of your diet but in reverse. If you stay clear of the unhealthy snacks and remain disciplined then you are home free. Slowly replace more and more foods until you are no longer buying the medifast shakes but rather healthy fruit and veggies.
Medifast Program – What about Exercise?
You will also be introduced to a regular exercise routine five times per week, which also comes with full instructions so you know exactly what to do. Exercises that can be done have been mentioned numerous times around the site so have a look around. Walking is still the best for beginners.
Over time you will then start the “maintenance phase” where you put more food groups into your diet, although you can still continue to have one or two of the program’s meals if you like.
By this stage you should have broken all of your old eating habits and be happy to stick to the new habits you’ve developed, like eating small amounts regularly, cutting down on the junk food and exercising. Now you can enjoy a long, happy, healthy life off the Medifast program!
